About Excel Inspection Solutions
Independent engineer surveyors
Excel Inspection Solutions (EIS) was founded on the belief that compliance inspections should be independent, thorough, and delivered around the client — not the other way around.
Our approach
We carry out statutory Thorough Examinations under LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, and PSSR 2000 across the South East of England and nationwide. Every inspection is conducted by a qualified Engineer Surveyor operating independently of any maintenance provider — which is what the HSE expects, and what duty holders need to demonstrate real compliance.
Founded by an engineer surveyor
EIS was founded by Joe Ward, a qualified Engineer Surveyor with extensive experience in lifting equipment, pressure systems, and workplace safety compliance. Joe leads every aspect of the business and still attends inspections personally, which keeps the technical standards high and the reporting grounded in real-world practice.
Part of a national network
Most of our clients are based in Kent, London, Essex, and the wider South East. As part of the Engineer Surveyor Inspection Network (ESiNet), we can call upon a national network of qualified engineer surveyors to deliver inspections anywhere in the UK — without the overhead of a large centralised firm.
Accreditations
- ISO 9001 — Quality Management System certified
- ISO 45001 — Occupational Health & Safety Management System certified
- UKAS-accredited certification bodies
Who we work with
Our clients include property managers and managing agents, care home operators, facilities management companies, construction firms, local authorities, warehousing and logistics operators, automotive workshops, and hospitality businesses. Wherever LOLER, PUWER, or PSSR applies, we can help.
What "independent" actually means
A Thorough Examination is not the same as routine maintenance. The HSE specifically requires that the competent person conducting the examination is independent of the maintenance provider, so defects cannot be overlooked in favour of commercial relationships. EIS operates entirely on that basis — we don't sell maintenance contracts, and we have no incentive to pass equipment that isn't safe.
